In Memory of Max

August 1, 2004-July 22, 2016

From the moment we spotted him as a sleepy pup almost 12 years ago, we were in love with this yellow Lab. Don’t let this photo of a wise old dog fool you, he was a master mischief maker in his early years. From carefully selecting specific novels from our bookshelves to chew on when left at home alone for more than 5 minutes at a time to escaping the house and running up to our local Walgreens for a field trip with his brother, Max always kept us on our toes and he always kept us laughing. He was most content to be with us, laying underneath feet, offering kisses, and patrolling the house to make sure everyone was accounted for. He was the dog little kids slept on, the dog whose soft ears we could pet in order to feel calm, and the dog whose barrel chest we could hug when we were having a bad day or a hard time, or when we just wanted to celebrate and feel happy about life. Max enjoyed wading in lakes, playing chase, and running in the woods. He was never far from his brother Brutus, who misses him as much as we humans do. Thank you to Ballard Animal Hospital for the excellent care you provided to Max and to us during his final days.
