In Memory of Shamu

In 2010 my husband and I had gone to the Paws shelter since we wanted to adopt two older cats. I fell in love with a fat, fluffy black and white 6 year old cat who we promptly took home and named Shamu.

For 5 ½ years she brought us so much joy; she loved to cuddle with us and always slept in the middle of the bed with us each night or sat next to us on the couch when we watched TV.

Shamu was a very vocal cat who loved to sing for her breakfast starting at 4:00 in the morning. She loved to nuzzle her head against our hands and seemed to think we needed grooming since she licked our hands constantly.

Sadly, in the past few months Shamu’s health had dramatically declined and once we met with the vet to see if there were ways to make her get better, we knew that it was time to say goodbye to our sweet little kitty.

Timm and I miss Shamu very much but we are grateful for the time we had with her, as short as it was. She was one of the sweetest, most loving kitties and I’m so happy that we plucked her out of the shelter so that she could live the rest of her life in a home filled with soft beds, plenty of food, and lots of love.

Thank you,
Christina
